A Prayer – Five months after Oct. 7, 2023

O Lord, we do not know what to do but weep. While our tears have run dry, our hearts are still breaking.

We weep for the hostages and their families.
We weep with the families of those killed on Oct. 7 and we weep with the families of those killed in the shelling of Gaza and the invasion which began on Oct. 27.
We weep over the death toll.
We weep with the injured, the displaced, the desperate.
We weep. While our tears have run dry, our hearts are still breaking.

Lord, end the war, end the violence, break the hate.
Lord, move the hearts of Hamas and the hearts of the Israeli Defence Force, make them see that peace is the only way forward.
Lord, get food to the hungry, break the blockades.
Lord, get water the thirsty, break the blockades.
We weep. While our tears have run dry, our hearts are still breaking.

O Lord, bring peace.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
