A Prayer The Day After (April 14, 2024)
We are worried, Lord, worried about what Iran’s drone and missile attack on Israel will lead to.
Things feel like they are going from bad to worse.
We want to pray for peace; but cannot imagine how that can happen. But you can imagine a way to peace. And so, we pray for peace without knowing how to get there.
We want to pray for reconciliation between Israel and Iran; between Iran and Saudi Arabia; between Israel and the Palestinians; but we cannot imagine how that could happen. But you can imagine a way to reconciliation. And so, we pray for reconciliation without knowing how that will be achieved.
We pray that leaders on all sides and all levels in the Middle East would act with restraint.
We pray for Christian sisters and brothers, our siblings in Christ, in Iran, Israel, Lebanon, Gaza, Syria – and in other places in the Middle East, that they would know the calm that comes only from your Holy Spirit. That they would be given courage to live as faithful followers Jesus Christ. And that we would be persistent and consistent in praying for them.
In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
